So are you happy now? That is the question, right?
Back when I traveled last time, it was my second location (a cute little town where no one spoke English 30 minutes outside of Paris) which brought me back down to Earth. Ireland, right before that, had only been a week and it was whirlwind of wonder and green beauty and even romantic rain outside my 5th floor walk-up apartment downtown (that didn’t seem to bother me one bit).
Anyway Paris? Yes. I didn’t enjoy most of my time there. I actually got sick even. And it was cold and dreary. I left a full week early to head to the beach in Spain.
But I think the real reason I didn’t love Paris is it was a reminder for me. It, as I said, brought me down to Earth. I had just started an epic adventure (and oh was it)! But not everyday was going to be epic! I would still have good days and bad days and plenty of ordinary days. The pains would still pain and the aches would still ache (metaphorically but physically too with all that walking to come lol).
To be fair though, I would also have days that I felt so incredibly greatful and was just able to soak it all in and those days, of course, made absolutely everything worth it.
Anyway, just a short and sweet update blog today!
I’ve moved from the beautiful home where we had our Hot Mess retreat (more on this soon) to a cute little flat that sits right on the ocean in Kini Bay, South Africa. And so far I’ve had the good days, ordinary days, even some kinda bleh days but it just takes an extra special sunset or a blow out (finally) or a crash course on driving on the other side of the road (on the opposite side of the car) to bring me back to gratitude that this is what I’ve called into my life right now. And it’s not perfect, it’s still quite messy, I still couldn’t tell you what I want or even where I’m going next – but it’s beautiful and it’s me and it’s as close as I can figure out as to how to be free.
Are you traveling alone? Did you plan out this trip for a long time prior to
Leaving? Do you find work in the various locations you are traveling to to pay for the next trip or just hedging on the belief that your savings will cover you until you find your forever spot? Just questions you might touch on in your future blogs! How exciting! I love to travel also.
Thanks for your blog, nice to read. Do not stop.
