I think the real reason (or one of them anyway) I travel is because every new city or country is like a fresh chapter.
It doesn’t mean the last chapter was bad (necessarily), it just means it’s over. A new chapter is in front of us and we get to take everything we learned, gained or struggled with in our previous chapter (in all our previous chapters, actually) and move forward closer to the life of our dreams.
We get to reset on the long and grueling journey to our next destination. And then take a deep breath once we’ve finally arrived.
And if we’re lucky, this chapter will be one of the ones that we wish could last forever. That we carry with us in our heart through all the other chapters to come, knowing that we aren’t the same as we once were. We’re better. Stronger. Wiser.
In my last chapter (South Africa), I was feeling uncertain. I mean despite having such amazing moments with my team members. I struggled with lots of questions. Why am I truly doing this? Am I meant to be doing this? Am I just running away from my problems? What do I really want?
In my new chapter (Thailand) – I still don’t have the answers to all of these. But it’s starting to become more clear. I do wonder where/when I’ll plant roots again – out of curiosity mostly because at this point, it really could be anywhere in the world. But where? We shall see. But for now, I’m just going to enjoy this chapter in front of me because it’s a good read so far and it’s only just begun!
Best wishes on your travels. How exciting!
