Why Chubby Girl Travels? When I set off on my latest adventure around the world, I didn’t really understand what it meant to truly love your body. I only knew that my current relationship with my body was really holding me back. And that it was high time for a real change.
Calling this blog Chubby Girl Travels, was the first step for me. It was my way of accepting, honoring and being proud of ALL of who I was. Including my body. For she is me and I am her.

Unpopular Opinion? Body positivity isn’t about loving your body so much that you could care less how much you move it or what you put into it.
It’s about loving it so much, right now, no matter what it looks like or what size it is – that you nourish it (at least, most days) and that you challenge it (physically). That you dare to seek a better life for you and your body, whatever that may look like. She is precious, she is wounded, she is your home, she is you.

So, for me, it’s been a journey of learning what’s really important about my body. And it’s less and less about the number on the scale (the number that once climbed up to 350 pounds), the size of my jeans, the lumps and bumps on my damn thighs, the deformations and huge battle scar (from a rare tumor I fought in the past), or what anyone else thinks or feels about MY body.
It’s about how my body feels, how it moves, what it allows me to do, where it takes me, how far it allows me to climb. And as I work (hard) towards a healthier body that can do more for me (and with me), I want her to know that I’ll love her then but I also love her now.

And that is what this blog is really all about for me, I reckon. Because this whole self-love thing (which is about way more than just our bodies, too) isn’t going to get any easier unless some of us light the way and share our stories and our truths first. And at the end of the day, that’s all I’ve ever really wanted to do. Inspire others (and myself). So if you’re here following along, I thank you for letting me shine my light today.
